Breakfast ~

Early morning tray. If you  like, start your day with a cup of coffee or tea from the tray set out in the foyer of your floor in the main house. Your coffee is blended and fresh-roasted right here in Bar Harbor. Tea is brewed - not a tea bag and warm water - and includes blacks and greens, both regular and decaf, plus a variety of herbals.

Breakfast.  During spring, summer and early fall a full hot breakfast is served at tables for two or four in the breakfast room overlooking the Graycote gardens and croquet court or at the large table in the dining room. In late fall and winter enjoy a cozy fireside breakfast at the dining room table. Breakfast is served restaurant-style (not buffet-style) year-round.

Breakfast includes a choice of fruit juices followed by a fruit and bread course, and finishes with a hot entrée and accompaniments. Your will have a different fruit course and entrée each day. For your health we use whole-grain flours, no trans fats, and a minimal amount of salt. Low-fat milk is always available. We are happy to accommodate medical and religious diets.

Brown bag breakfast. If you participate in an early morning activity such as bird watching, sea kayaking, or whale watching or if you are departing on the morning Cat ferry to Nova Scotia you will need to leave the Graycote before our regular breakfast service begins. We are happy to pack you a brown bag breakfast, usually consisting of fruit juice, yogurt, muffins, fresh fruit, and granola bars.

We support Maine farmers and food producers in our menus.  Benbow's Coffee Roasters of Bar Harbor is the source of our organic, shade-grown and fair trade coffee. Our delicious Maine wild blueberries, grown on the neighboring Blue Hill Peninsula, come from Allen's Blueberries. The maple syrup served at the Graycote is the finest, 100% pure Maine syrup from Smith's Maple Products in Skowhegan. Many of  our milk products are produced in Maine by Oakhurst Dairy whose farmers use no artificial growth hormones. We use dried cranberries from Weownit Cranberry Company of Jonesport. Buckwheat for our pancakes and waffles is grown on the Bouchard Family Farm in the St. John River Valley of northern Maine.

Afternoon Refreshments ~

After a busy day in Acadia National Park or in the Village, you can enjoy some light refreshments in the living room or on the veranda before walking to dinner at one of Bar Harbor’s many excellent restaurants.
